Paradigm

Paradigm is a global provider of advanced petroleum geoscience and drilling technology to the oil and gas exploration and production industry worldwide. With 22 offices in 19 countries, the company has a global network of sales, services and user support, serving all major oil and gas producing provinces around the world. Paradigm's advanced set of software solutions and integrated services, in the form of Trace-to-Target workflows, cover every step in the oil and gas exploration and production process, from data processing and imaging, through advanced visualization, interpretation and earth modeling, to reservoir characterization and petrophysics, up to well planning and drilling.

“We looked for a telephony migration solution that could save the enormous costs spent on long distance calls across our offices worldwide,” says Ran Kahal, Paradigm’s Corporate IT Manager. “We decided to implement a VoIP platform, and after examining various options, selected BOS.”

Paradigm chose BOS’ V-Series (Vintage) IP Telephony Gateways as its VoIP platform. An E1 PRI digital V-Series Gateway was installed at the main office, and FXO V-Series Gateways were deployed at all other sites. Since each location operates a different vendor PBX, the BOS Gateway’s Disconnect Signal Analyzer (DSA) feature was particularly critical in streamlining installation. For any non-standard PBX signal, the DSA instantly identifies, registers and saves the call signal to the BOS FXO Gateway, without the need to call a PBX service representative to decipher the signal.

V-Series Gateways are designed to deliver cost-effective voice communications between geographically dispersed offices of an organization to control telephony costs. The gateways are highly flexible and enable routing of telephone calls integrated with data traffic over the existing LAN/WAN, leased lines or Internet connection. Phone and fax calls are routed over the resident IP network rather than the traditional PSTN so that intra-company calls are entirely free.

V-Series Gateways are easy to install and maintain. Intelligent, centralized, browser-based management enables global updates to all gateways.

“So far, we have deployed the VoIP network in 12 countries, and the rest will be connected this year,” says Kahal. “We have seen a very rapid ROI with a direct cost reduction in the company’s monthly call costs by between 30% to 40%.”
